Shariah Compliance and Legal Reform: Bridging Islamic Principles and Global Standards

Abstract

This study examines the challenges and strategies of harmonizing Shariah compliance with modern legal reforms in a globalized context. The research investigates how Islamic legal principles can be integrated into contemporary legal frameworks while maintaining adherence to Shariah and ensuring compatibility with international standards. Employing a qualitative approach, data were collected through literature reviews, case studies, and semi-structured interviews with legal scholars, policymakers, and regulatory authorities. The findings indicate that successful integration requires context-sensitive jurisprudence, institutional innovation, and dialogue between religious authorities and civil law institutions. The study highlights the role of hybrid legal frameworks, regulatory oversight, and progressive interpretations in bridging traditional Islamic law with modern governance and international norms. The results underscore that Shariah law can maintain relevance and legitimacy by engaging dynamically with global legal reforms without compromising its foundational ethical and moral principles
